Baga Bastardo Touriga Nacional Tinta Roriz
Portugal Portugal
The preeminent ambassador of Portugal's rich gastronomic culture, its distinctive flask shaped bottle is one of the world's most favourite wines. In it's youth, Mateus is characterized by a slight sparkle that makes it delightfully refreshing as an aperitif, as well as being an excellent accompaniment to fine food. Quite surprisingly for a Rose, there is a perfect tannic structure and exquisite, lingering finish. Mateus is always delicious and perfectly balanced, it can be counted upon to turn every ocassion into a festivity, while being the perfect everyday refresher.

Enjoyed globally and loved everywhere, Mateus is Portugal's most famous export, appreciated around the world for its fresh, grapey taste. Vinified through the
Bica aberta
method, a long fermentation under controlled temperatures, a selection of unique Iberian varietal grapes, Rufete and Tinta Barroca, Baga and Bastardo, Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca and Tinta Roriz, are assembled according to the Mateus traditions and guarded blending protocals. Processed to the traditional white wine method, without skins, at 16C. Fining is followed by cold stabilisation, filtration and an early bottling. Preferably to be enjoyed within two years after vintage to enjoy it's lively and enjoyable spritzy qualities. Alcohol 11.0%
Perfection in pink. Fresh and seductive with fine and intense bouquet, both fruity and dry, scents of currants and vanilla, cranberry and ginger. A splendiferous palate that's full of fresh berries, grape jelly, citrus and red licorice characters. A well balanced and tempting wine, brilliantly complemented by a soft and slightly fizzy finish. The first choice for aperitif, match Mateus with anything that's coloured pink.
